Lore & Background
Louis Creed is a pediatrician who moves his family from Chicago to Ludlow, Maine. After their cat, Church, is killed, Jud Crandall introduces Louis to an ancient burial ground. When Gage is struck and killed by a speeding tanker truck while chasing a kite, Louis takes his son to that burial ground and buries him there. Gage is possessed by the spirit of a Wendigo and resurrected. Once returned to life, Gage murders Jud and calls for his mother to come to him, then kills Rachel and taunts Louis. Louis ends the Wendigo's reign of terror by injecting Gage with a lethal dose of morphine.
In Their Own Story
The rain fell cold on the pine needles as Louis stood over the fresh mound of earth. He held the shovel like a weapon, his hands trembling not from fear, but from a desperate hope that had curdled into something dark. The woods behind the house whispered secrets he should never have heard. He looked at the grave marker for the boy who was no longer truly alive and knew the cost was already paid in blood.
